General FAQs

What products are included with YPulse Western Europe (WE) Pro?

YPulse WE Pro includes Insight Articles and 50+ Behavioral and 12 Trend Reports per year, matching the YPulse North America Pro plan. The report topics and survey questions primarily follow those fielded for YPulse North America (view the updated Report and Webinar Calendar here), expertly translated and made relatable to reflect young consumers’ lives in the other countries. YPulse WE Pro subscribers will also have access to all of the survey data behind the reports, and the new WE Youth Brand Tracker dashboard views and data.

Is there a Western Europe Insights Newsletter?

There is! To sign up for the weekly Western Europe Newsletter, click here.

Does YPulse have a team in Western Europe?

Yes! We're currently based in Berlin and continuing to grow.

Is the WE brand survey and methodology the same as for North America?

It is. We replicated our meticulously developed youth focused brand performance survey to gauge international perspectives on the world’s leading brands. The brand lists are specific to each country, and all data can be segmented by country or explored together with the interactive Brand Data dashboards.

Read here for to learn about each of the measures tracked and how they're calculated.

Do we have race and ethnicity demographic data on respondents in Western Europe?

No. Because it is illegal in all WE countries, except for the U.K., to ask for race and ethnicity status, we do not collect this data for young consumers in Western Europe. This means there is no BIPOC banner in the Data Files and the BIPOC filter is not populated in the Data Dashboards.

Behavioral & Trend Data FAQs

How many Western Europe respondents are in each survey?

Each Behavioral and Trend Report topic now has two survey waves:

North America, N=1,450/survey

U.S.: N=1,300

Canada: N=150

Western Europe, N=1,300/survey

U.K.: N=265

Germany: N=330

France: N=255

Italy: N=270

Spain: N=180

How did we decide the sample for each country (UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, and France)?

Just as we did with our expansion into Canada, we created sample frames to match the pro-rata share of the populations of 13-39-year-olds in each country. This allows you to view all WE countries together as balanced reflection of views in Western Europe.

Are the report topics the same across WE and NA? Are the questions the same?

The report topics and survey questions primarily follow those fielded for YPulse North America, expertly translated and made relatable to reflect young consumers’ lives in the other countries. You can view all available Western Europe reports at this link here.

Brand Data FAQs

Is the Brand Tracker survey sample representative?

As is the case with our behavioral and trend data, we use quotas by single year of age and gender to ensure a representative sample. Brand tracker results are not

weighted, relying on balanced response within each weekly wave.

How many respondents are you surveying across all Regions and Countries each week?

North America, N=2,340/week

U.S.: N=2,100

Canada: N=240

Western Europe, N=2,120/week

U.K.: N=430

Germany: N=530

France: N=420

Italy: N=440

Spain: N=300

How did you decide the sample for each country (U.K., Germany, Spain, Italy, and France)?

Just as we did with our expansion into Canada, we created sample frames to match the pro-rata share of the populations of 13-39-year-olds in each country. This allows you to view all WE countries together as balanced reflection of views in Western Europe.

Is it possible to purchase additional sample for specific countries in the tracker?

We cannot. Because data coming into the tracker is unweighted, we cannot accommodate oversampling in a particular country. We would have to add more sample to all countries to prevent distorting the proportions.

Can you have different Benchmark Brands in different Regions and Countries?

Indeed. The brand lists for each country are distinct and based on brand relevance and awareness in each country. Therefore you can request to track different brands in different countries.
